Backlink Strategy
Backlinks are king when it comes to search engine optimization. Along with your onpage optimization, the number of sites linking back to you dictates your position on the search engines.
A 1st page ranking is easy enough to get if your keywords aren’t all that competitive – do a little on-page optimization on an established website and you’ll likely pop up on the front page of Google within a few minutes.
But what if you’re in a highly competitive market? Does that mean you need to spend hours commenting on blogs to build backlinks? Or that you should start paying virtual assistants to build backlinks for you?
No it doesn’t. Because I’m going to teach you a super simple way to get your website ranked very quickly using an easy backlink strategy that anyone can do. If you use this backlink strategy consistently, you’ll be amazed by the results, just like I was.
I made this video for those of you who are visual learners… for everyone else, the step-by-step instructions are laid out below the video.
My 3-Step Backlink Strategy
Step 1: Write an Original Article and Post It On Your Site
Write an article that is closely related to your business, using the keywords you’ve chosen using the Google Adwords tool or Market Samurai. I can’t stress enough how important it is that this article is ORIGINAL. Google doesn’t like duplicate content, so if you “borrow” from other people’s sites you won’t get the high search engine ranking you want.
If you aren’t a good writer then find someone who is and offer to take them out to Subway in exchange for an article. That, or you can hire a virtual assistant or ghostwriter… whatever works, just get an original article. Once you’ve got it, post it to the blog or website you would like to get traffic to. Step 2: Spin The Article
To spin an article just means rewriting it. You can accomplish this very quickly by using an article spinning software which does it for you in seconds. The spinner I use is called The Best Spinner, and I assure you it lives up to its name… I’ve used several spinners, and this one puts them all to shame. Once you’ve completed this step you will have literally hundreds of unique articles to use for Step 3.
Step 3: Submit the Articles to the Top Article Directories
Once you’ve spun the article it’s time to submit them to the article directories, taking care to link back to your original article in the author bio box. Be sure to use your keywords as the “anchor” or link text. Some of my favorite article directories are EzineArticles, Buzzle and Amazines. All of these sites are highly respected by Google and getting links back from those directories to your site will help you improve your search engine ranking very quickly. Backlink strategy
NOTE: You can use the same backlink strategy without spinning, but if you choose not to, you’ll need to spend a lot of time writing unique articles to ensure that you don’t get slapped for duplicate content. That being said, my sincere advice is, if you value your time, then use an article spinner. Thanks to The Best Spinner software, I can now accomplish in one hour what used to take me all day, leaving me more time to enjoy the things that matter most (time with my family).
So that’s it, pretty easy right?! If you rinse and repeat these 3 simple steps consistently, you’ll soon see a huge increase in your website traffic… I started using this technique in on February15 and it’s doubled the traffic to my site already.
I hope you found value in this post… Be sure to leave me a comment, and don’t forget to share!
Happy spinning!

Good stuff.
Craig, coming from you that means a lot… thank you!
I agree with Mr Mullins–good stuff, indeed! People often make this stuff way too difficult…it’s really simple. Systematize…
Hey Bill, Thanks for stopping by! I totally agree… just takes a little time to learn and then it’s like second nature. Great meetup last night… I’m sure I’ll be coming out with more useful tips in the near future thanks to you
thanks for this nice tutorial, very usefull information. im running a blog for a month now, with very litte visitor. with this i hope i can double the amount.
You are very welcome. One month is barely enough time to get indexed by the search engines so don’t be disappointed by little traffic. Start using this little trick and you’ll have more visitors in no time
Hi Dawn. I was wondering…what do you mean by rinse and repeat? Rinse and repeat for the same keyword and post? Or use it for other keywords?
As doing just those 3 steps will not lead to a top 3 ranking in most cases. I have tried it.
Looking forward to your reply.
Hi Ed, I guess I could have been more clear… first you want to make sure you get a good number of backlinks, so you need to get your article into lots of directories.
Then start over with a new keyword (create a new post for that keyword, spin and submit to lots of directories). In my experience, when used in conjunction with solid keyword research (ie know the level of competition is reasonable – if you’re running Market Samurai think less than 100,000 competing sites) this strategy works almost all of the time. If you’re in a highly competitive niche you may need to pull out the big guns and do mass article submissions, but for anything under 30,000 competing sites, this probably isn’t even necessary.
If this isn’t working for you, double check that your page is well optimized by running it through the Page Analysis module of Traffic Travis (it’s a free download and there’s a video that shows you how to do it). If that gets an A+ (which you should be aiming for if you want to get top rankings), then run your keyword phrase through the Keyword Analysis tool… if the competition is ranked “Difficult” or “Very Difficult” you’ll need to get more backlinks.
This method brings me lots of traffic so I know it works… I hope it can do the same for you
My on page optimisation is well done, but it still did not work for me. I have tried it on other sites as well. I think this is mainly because the articles are not getting indexed. What do you think I should do?
Interesting stuff. Well-written (and spoke) — very easy to understand. My start-up is going to start spinning our blog entries and give this a go. I’ve always known backlinks were important, and automating that process sounds like godsend. If it helps drive more traffic I’ll be a happy little nerd and owe you one.
Hi David, glad you enjoyed the article. Definitely give it a shot and let me know how it goes… I have no doubt you’ll be a super happy little nerd in no time (I know I am!)… lol
Thanks for your tips and advice. Well written and very informative. I read your blogs yesterday while doing some research on BBV and will definitely be back as I’m currently in another MLM that isn’t providing a huge income, but to be fair I’m not working that business very hard either…
Anyway, will be back.
Hey glad to hear you’re enjoying the content. I love your last statement “but to be fair I’m not working that business very hard either.”
Too many people don’t understand that it actually takes work to succeed in MLM, and then get pissed at the industry when they don’t make $100K their first month… Sounds like you know what’s up
Let me know if I can help you in any way… I’ve got friends who are exceptional networkers in lots of great companies (BBV included), and I’m always happy to recommend a good sponsor if you’re looking.
I’ve been researching this for awhile now. But I’ve been hesitant to utilize Article Spinning and Submissions due to negative feedback from others. However, I simply don’t see a reason that it wouldn’t work. I’m like 98% sure that I have no other choice but to try spinning and submitting. Most of the stuff I see about spinning is relatively old (2-3 years old) and so I wasn’t sure it was still effective, but your article is actually fairly new, so I think it may work. And unlike a lot of blog articles on SEO, your traffic increase claims seem to match up with what I’m seeing on domain-pop.
I waited a long time to get into article spinning because of negative feedback and I would say that it literally cost me tens of thousands in revenue. Some people say you shouldn’t do it because it’s “littering” the internet. My answer to that is “have you seen PR Newswire or the Associated Press?” The internet is not in any danger of running out of space, and if you’re providing value with your articles then there’s absolutely no reason you shouldn’t syndicate… The Best Spinner rewrites articles so well that they can usually (if done right) pass the human reviewed submission sites.
Regarding traffic… I don’t care what anyone says, there is absolutely no faster way to get a top ranking on the search engines that I am aware of than a pile of backlinks. And article submissions is the fastest way I know how to get them. In any case, it continues to like a charm for me
So, how many sites do you submit to? Thats where my problem lies. I already had one site sandboxed and the only reason I can think of is I got a link from a bad directory or article site…maybe not but still.
Do you keep a list of quality, safe article submission sites?
Hi Jim, I submit to a lot of sites, but I do it over time, not all at once. Also, if it’s a brand new site you should wait until the site is indexed before sending a pile of backlinks… that will flag you for sure. The more aged your site, the more backlinks it can handle.
Try using Google Webmaster Tools and requesting a review of your site. I’ve heard this process can help if you’ve been de-indexed but have a quality site.
Hope that helps!
Hi Eliz… Posting the article on your site first allows you to write a high-quality, keyword-dense article for your own site, providing your readers with great content. The spun articles then go out to the article directories with similar content with a link back to your original article, using the same keyword as your link text. This works 3-fold: 1. You have a well optimized article on your site that will help push your site up for one of your keyword phrases (each post should target a different keyword phrase), 2. The article that links back to the site is on a related subject (that makes sense as far as looking “organic”), and 3. The link text is your original keyword phrase, telling the search engines once again that your article is about (insert keyword here).
Search engines are getting “smarter,” meaning if they see hundreds of links to the main page of your site it could be suspect. If on the other hand you have links to various pages of your website, it looks like lots of people enjoy your content enough to reference and link to it. This will give you credibility with the search engines, which pushes your site up the search engines.
Hope this helps to clarify
