Using Focus to Create an Epic 2011

My Focus for 2011: Family, Friends and Happiness (Note the palm trees and sunshine ;)

We are now two days into the second month of 2011 and I would just like to be the last person to wish you a Happy New Year! In reality I would have loved to be the first, but I’ve spent these past few months really contemplating – maybe even soul searching – the direction I would like my business and in fact, my life to take in 2011.

I’m a big believer in the Law of Attraction and so I felt I needed to create a real vision of what I want for this year – because until I had that vision firm in my own head, I really couldn’t come out here and offer much value to anyone else.

Last year I nearly burnt myself out – it was my first full year as a full-time business owner and I threw myself in whole-heartedly. My laptop was often the last thing I would see at night (which is terrible because I just got married). While I loved everything I was learning and doing, I was very out of balance and wasn’t taking the time to look up from my computer at the amazing life that was taking place in the present, all around me. I was far too focused on the end result – which was to create a highly profitable business that would in turn result in an amazing and free life for my family. And because of this I wasn’t enjoying life for it’s current goodness.

In November I decided that my mode of daily operation had to change… so I took a break. I read some personal development books, listened to some self-empowerment CDs and took an incredible online personal development course. I focused on my family and on finding out what I am truly passionate about. I don’t know what your experience is with personal development but I can tell you that I am an improved human being in all aspects of my life, and that I am so glad I took the step back to get clear on what is most important to me.

My vision for 2011 includes a balanced life, with lots of time for family and exploring the world. Being an outstanding wife, friend, step-mom, daughter and business owner. Being authentic in everything I do and offering exceptional value to my team members, coaching clients and site visitors.

By getting more focused and getting clear on what’s most important in my life/business balance I’ve already cut my work hours to 30 per week – absolute max – and this year I am not working weekends. The funny thing is that with my shorter, yet focused and disciplined work schedule, I’ve been able to increase revenue in the first month already… how cool is that?

It may have taken me to the end of the first month to get here, but I’m ready to make 2011 EPIC… how about you?
