FarmVille and Business Don’t Mix

by dawnmarrs on May 12, 2010

Seriously though, I’m not a hater – I’m a big fan of doing whatever you want, and if what you want to do is play FarmVille all evening, far be it from me to pass judgement. In fact, I love video games and consider myself a recovering addict; I understand the allure, believe me. I could happily pass my days playing X-Box if someone else would run my business.

What changed for me was the direction I wanted my life to take. If I was going to leave my corporate job to become the self-made entrepreneur I dreamed of being, and create the wealth I knew was possible, I was going to have to make certain sacrifices. Motivational speaker Anthony Robbins got it right when he said

“If you do what you’ve always done, you’ll get what you’ve always gotten.”

Too many people tell me they are either failing in business, or hesitate to get into business at all because they “haven’t got time.” But what if I told you you could build a business on an hour a night, and that by “borrowing” an hour from your online gaming schedule, you could be on the path toward a six-figure income. How you choose to spend your time is a conscious decision that you get to make every day, and it should be an easy one. I mean, let’s face it, Farmville cash is not going to pay for your dream vacation or make your mortgage payment.

“Do now what most people won’t, so you can do tomorrow what other people can’t.”

I love that saying, and so does everyone else who is working hard to secure a residual income and early retirement. Imagine if you took the time you currently took your wasted time and spent it building a business that would continue to pay you for the rest of your life. Most people won’t do it, but the ones who will… there is no limit to the success they have the potential to enjoy.

If you have any aspiration of earning a full-time income part-time, then do yourself a favour – drop the FarmVille and become part of a great team of people with common goals and similar drive.  People who put aside time to work their business,  move the fastest and create the most success. They are also the ones having the most fun – who doesn’t love bonus cash!?

“The work is temporary, the pay is permanent.”

My very successful upline leader Terry told me this the first time I met her almost two years ago, and it’s stuck with me ever since. Whether you’re in Network Marketing already, or are just reading this for fun, take a minute and really evaluate how you spend your time. If you’re spending more than an hour a day playing video games or watching TV, then you have all the time you need to build a successful business. And if sacrificing those things for the next year brought you to a six-figure income, wouldn’t it be worth it?

Just something to think about… happy gaming :)

Dawn ~ That’s funny … and sooooo true! I don’t get into the online gaming thing (or Xbox) but I know a lot of people do. LOL … I’m sure I have other time wasters in my life and I recently read that if you spend a couple of weeks journaling your time in 30 minute increments … set a timer and after each 30 minutes write down what you did for that 30 minutes (be honest of course) you will get a good idea of how you are spending your time. Of course your “money makers” should be your first priority and then the “taks” like answering email, social networking, etc. So for network marketing prospects should be #1 (not even new recruits come before new prospects – still important but not during “make money” time).

Thanks for the reminder to go over my time and see how I’m spending it each day … I’m very driven and I don’t want to wake up a few years from now and wish I’d made better use of my time … the sacrifice now is definitely worth it! *SmiLes* Suzanne
